Dr. Jay Raynor

Dentist - Peterborough

Naturally, I jumped at the opportunity to practice in the Monadnock region since I was born and raised in Harrisville, NH. There is something amazing about New England and New Hampshire particularly. I went to Keene High School, then on to UNH for a BS in Plant Biology. I attended Tufts Dental School where I met my best friend, wife and fellow dentist, Dr. Steph Raynor. My practice philosophy is simple; treat every patient as you would want to be treated. All of my treatment plans are subject to this litmus test: would I perform this treatment on my wife or daughter? I also enlist the help of each patient to determine what is best for them by giving options, discussing the pros and cons of each and collectively determining their unique path to oral health. I like to spend spare time with my family, fishing, mountain biking and reading.

Dr. Stephanie Raynor

Dentist - Keene

After growing up in a suburban town near Atlanta, GA, I received my BS in Nutrition Science from the University of Georgia. I then relocated to Boston, MA to attend Tufts Dental. Moving to NH was a major transition but I’ve truly enjoyed becoming a New Englander and feel very fortunate to be practicing dentistry with my husband. I believe in making our patients feel like members of our family. My goal is to help patients understand their treatment and feel comfortable in the dental chair. I enjoy traveling and spending my free time with Dr. Jay, our children Nola and Rowen, and our dog Doc.

Dr. Daniel Zhao, DMD

Dentist - Keene

I grew up in south coast Massachusetts and I love just about everything that is New England. I received my BS in Cell and Molecular Biology from Tulane University and continued to get my MS in Human Genetics from Tulane University School of Medicine. I then moved to Kentucky to attend dental school at University of Louisville School of Dentistry to obtain my DMD. Being away from home for nearly a decade, I knew I wanted to be closer to friends and family, so I am now happily back in New England! Dentistry for me is not just my job; it’s something that I look forward to every Monday. I enjoy meeting and knowing all of my patients and my philosophy is to provide you the same care that I would provide for my mother. I love to rock climb, ski and countless other outdoor activities.

Dr. J. Scott Jarvela, DMD

Dentist – Peterborough

I was born and raised just down the road in New Ipswich, NH. I am delighted to return to the Monadnock region after spending 8 years in Boston for my undergraduate and dental education. I attended Boston University majoring in Human Physiology, as well as Boston University’s Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine, where I received my Doctor of Dental Medicine. It brings me great excitement to share my passion for dentistry with the community I grew up in. It is my goal to make every patient feel at ease when under my care. I can promise that you will never feel rushed or pressured into treatment when sitting in my chair. When I’m not at the office you can find me hiking Monadnock, golfing in Jaffrey, or snowboarding up north.

Dr. Leora Hilbert, DMD

Dentist - Keene

I grew up and lived in Fort Myers, FL, where I attended Florida Gulf Coast University for undergrad. I then went to Barry University in Hollywood, FL for my Master’s, and Tufts Dental School in Boston, MA, where I fell in love with the seasons. Fall is my favorite! New England is also a great place to raise a family and the mountain views can’t be beat. My favorite part of dentistry is being able to help a patient feel confident in their smile. I chose to join Raynor Dental because there is a great work environment, mentorship, and the opportunity for growth as a clinician. I have many interests, but they have kind of taken the backseat to my new son! I love to go biking and hiking, I play the piano and violin, and I have a chocolate lab named Rascal who lives up to his name. My husband Spencer and I like to travel and one of our favorite cities is Nashville. We want to do a Europe trip soon!

Dr. Mark Yu, DDS

Dentist - Peterborough

Greetings, all! My name is Dr. Mark Yu. I’m delighted to be part of the team at Raynor Dental in Peterborough. I’ve long been drawn to the beauty of northern New England, so I’m excited to practice my skills and help people in the Monadnock Region. I attended high school in Michigan then Trinity College in Connecticut, and I’m a graduate of New York University College of Dentistry. I enjoy all aspects of general dentistry, from diagnosis to employing my technical skills to the people I get to work alongside and the patients we serve together. I like traveling, singing, and spending time with my family, which includes two cats, a Maine Coon Cat and a Ragdoll. If I haven’t met you yet, I look forward to it!

Dr. Taha Akhtar, DMD

Dentist - Peterborough

After growing up in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, where I developed a love for swimming and became a scuba diving instructor, I began my academic journey at BMC in Jeddah, completing dental school. I then pursued a master’s degree at Saarland University in Germany, where I developed a passion for golf, and continued my education with a Postdoctoral Clinical Residency in Prosthodontics at Boston University, where I was recognized as the most productive resident. I met my wife at Boston University Dental School; she was in her first year of her Doctorate/Residency in Endodontics, and I was in my last year of Prosthodontics. From the moment I set foot in New England, I felt at home and now teach as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Prosthodontics at Tufts University. I enjoy all aspects of dentistry, including practicing, teaching, and giving continuing education courses. Joining Raynor Dental stood out to me because of their commitment to patient care and the Peterborough community, and I am excited to help patients achieve their oral health goals. In my free time, I love golf, kayaking, swimming, and spending time with my wife and our cat, Stitch.
